Time, endurance, resurrection and above all, staying power - it's the fortieth anniversary of The Blue Ocean Restaurant - one of the oldest restaurants in Seminyak. So, what comes to mind to make this place so special?Let's take a walk down memory lane and get a glimps of what it was like. Forty years ago the first owner. who happened to be a priest, bought the land in order to build bungalows. It wasn't long before he discovered the presence of three spirits.so he built a temple for them. Because he was a priest he was allowed to do so, and this temple ended up becoming very popular in the last thirty years.
In the eighties the military had the rights to use the land behind the beach. They used it for business opportunities, and so along came the birth of a mini Mart in front of the Blue Ocean Restaurant and then Zanzibar and Benny's Cafe, which is now called Lanai. The only reason why the terrace of the Blue Ocean Restaurant is still there because of the temple and nobody in Bali would dare touch the temple. With time the military influence fadded out after Soeharto regime collapsed and so now it's different story/ The fact is that the Blue Ocean Restaurant has survived through all of the changes, is probably because of the Balinese Temple infront of the restaurant.
